In the film "Eclipses," a tall man enters an elevator and casts a shadow over a young woman inside. The camera shows the space shrinking, and she, feeling pressured, tries to climb up to him to escape. She walks through a parking lot and finds a truck that dwarfs her in scale. The man enters a spacious apartment and gazes at the city through the window. A hearing aid in his ear compensates for the emptiness of the place with sounds from the outside. The woman gets into the truck, lies down, and falls asleep. Simultaneously, a young man wakes up, walks along the edge of a pool, and notices a woman in the water. The two figures attract and repel each other, circling in ellipses inside the pool like celestial bodies in a space where gravity's laws are different. The four characters are connected through the relationships of their bodies with the places in which they interact. The characters' scale activates objects and architectural spaces.
Using the language of cinema, "Eclipses" juxtaposes the physical relationship between different types of bodies. The film interrogates aspects of the body such as gender, scale, and identity through a narrative that lacks dialogue and intertwined through actions and gestures. A woman fits into a car, and a man doesn't fit in his bed. The woman falls asleep, and a young man wakes up. The bodies go through a state of crisis.
